4 oz, 320 yards, Sport weight

A “marl” is a yarn spun while keeping two distinct, but similar, colors separate and visible. In this yarn there are two shades of natural brown.

Corriedale has a broad range of natural colors: cream, silver, and several shades of brown. The wool creates a yarn that for many people is next to the skin soft, but it is also durable. The yarn is often described as “crisp”. Great for sweaters, blankets, etc.

Wool sourced and spun in Wisconsin.

Additional Info

Corriedale was developed in New Zealand beginning in the 1880’s (Australia began a similar program a few years later). James Little began crossing Lincolns with his Merinos until he had a stable breeding population. The goal was a dual purpose sheep that could do well on lush grasslands and arid, intermediate grasslands. Corriedale is a multi-purpose fiber, a medium soft fiber (25-31 microns) with a long staple (3.5 - 6 inches), luster and even crimp.
